I use a Howse 6' rotary cutter that I bought about 3 years ago for about $500. I mow mostly pasture but sometimes down by the creek I cut hardwood saplings about 1" dia and cedars (junipers?) 3' to 4' tall with no problem. Some people knock Howse but it has served me well. Howse has 4 levels of cutter, light, medium, medium-heavy, and heavy duty. Mine, I believe, is light duty. But it is as heavy as I want to drag around. I do know it has a 45 hp gearbox. I have 27 PTO hp so a good fit. ....

Just my $.02 worth, since I don't yet have one, but from what I've read about in doing some research on cutters etc., I'd tend to recommend King Kutter brand for quality and especially price.
Good luck.

Take a look at a Landpride RCR 2560 or 2560. Good, heavy, well built cutters that are every bit as good as JD. I am looking into a 25/2660 or a25/2672 for my 4410. $1200 to $1300ish price range. A lot of JD dealers sell them.

On that JD cutter did you ask them how much it would cost without the green paint. JD buys there equipment paints it green and marks it up 60%. This is true to you JD lover's.
Howse makes a good cutter for cheap. Kodiak is another good cutter I have been happy to sell you should check them out a tough cutter and not very expensive. King Kutter has a ok cutter their paint doesn't last long and rust will come soon after that but the cutter itself isn't too bad.
